Today I sat down with a really, really, really smart man from my church to work out a budget for Thailand. As the numbers got higher and higher, my eyes got wider and wider. It was about then that I realized you might as well ask me to walk from here to the Pacific Ocean without stopping to rest.
It ain't happenin'.
Let me clarify that last statement. It ain't happenin' in my own strength.
But God is the Worker of all miracles and provided $100.00 this evening from a very unexpected source! What a blessing that it happened tonight ~ after a day of seeing a big number I can't reach. But that's ok, because tonight I read some pretty encouraging verses from Psalm 77...
Verse 8-9a ~ "Is his mercy clean gone for ever? doth his promise fail for evermore? Hath God forgotten to be gracious?"
That's an almost laughable thought: God's mercy clean gone, failed promises, and forgotten grace! But, wait! There's more...
Verse 19 ~ "Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known."
Given a choice, at first I would not choose the way through the sea and the great waters. But as I begin this journey (it's amazing what has happened in two weeks!) I can already see that the way in the sea and the great waters is going to be for my benefit. Stepping into the great waters mean stepping out of the shallow water. Out in the great waters are a lot of unknowns that I can't even begin to fathom. But God's way is there!
Bro. Gaudet wrote me last night and reminded me of the verse that says, "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think." and told me to wait for God to do the "exceeding" part. Is it going to be easy? No. But that's where the trust comes to play.
Each step I take is completely guided by His Hand, even in the great waters!
